CALLING ALL DENTAL ASSISTANTS AND DENTAL TECHNICIANS.
Christchurch might not be the adrenalin capital of the world (that title goes to Queenstown which is a 6 hour drive away) – but our work is action packed.
We practice standard dentistry – with a client group who make our work anything but boring. We are a tertiary hospital based service – so we see the more complex presentations and the more challenging clients (with physical, intellectual or mental health disabilites)– making our work varied and challenging.

We love it that we get to have longer term relationships with our clients – we really get to know them and have time to develop a great rapport. Compassion, empathy and good communication skills are really important, as we work with clients, carers and clinical teams.
We love it that we get to make a difference to people’s lives. Our service has had a few facility moves over the last couple of years, but we are excited to be part of the rebuild and getting a new purpose built facility. Going paperless with digital imaging is another exciting change which was recently implemented.
We will support you to become a Dental Assistant. The 12 month online coursehas a very strong practical component completed on the job – previous hospital experience is an advantage but not a requirement.
Dental Technicians complete a Bachelor of Dental Technology at the University of Otago before coming to work with us.
We are a great team of approximately 60 staff – we support and look out for each other. We work Monday-Friday, business hours with an hour for lunch. We usually have reduced clinics over Christmas, and we try hard to accommodate leave requests. We work in a great location – close to the rejuvenating central city, Hagley Park and the Botanic Gardens.
