No one with kids moves countries without an assurance that their children will be better off for the move. Well you will be pleased to know that many people move to New Zealand for that very reason. Below you will find links to information that will begin to answer your questions on what your children will experience in the New Zealand education system. There is also information on tertiary providers if you are wanting to further your own education.

Pre, Primary and Secondary Education

New Zealand primary schools generally cater to boys and girls aged 5-12 in a co-educational system, and secondary schools offer a choice of single-sex or mixed education for 13-18 year olds.

Pre-school age children are catered for in our early childhood education system and a variety of different after school programmes are available for working parents; both after school and during school holidays.

The Ministry of Education website has useful information for parents about the schooling system in New Zealand.

The Education Review Office (ERO) evaluates all schools in New Zealand on a regular basis and you can view their reports online.

Tertiary Education

The New Zealand health system has a strong commitment to ongoing professional education both from a legislative and quality health care point of view. Canterbury boasts two world-class universities, The University of Canterbury and Lincoln University.
