Getting Around

Christchurch is a beautiful (and flat) city and if you live close enough to the hospital where you work you may choose to cycle or walk to work. The CDHB even has a Bicycle Users Group (BUG) and bicycle taxis that you can borrow free of charge to travel between sites or just for a bit of recreation.

Christchurch also has a fantastic public bus system and buses are clean, safe and reliable. With a relatively small population, Christchurch doesn’t suffer from the traffic woes you might find in other larger cities.

The Christchurch City Council has information about cycling in the city.
The Land Transport Safety Authority has great information about car ownership for new residents.
Metro Info has a very detailed website about catching the bus in the city.
