Sterile Services Technician

Have you ever wondered where all the sterile equipment comes from in a hospital?

Sterile Services is an essential ‘behind the scenes’ service – we are the ones who decontaminate, pack and sterilise equipment for use in clinical areas. Theatres and wards can’t operate without us.

It is definitely not an office job – we never sit still. You have to be able to think on your feet, and multi-task in this very fast-paced work environment.

With an aging population, more theatres and more operations performed each day, Sterile Services is an area that is in demand.

You will need to complete a course in Sterilising Technology through the Open Polytechnic within the first two years. We will support you to do this. Our own educator will work with you for the first 6-8 weeks on the job, and then you will be assigned an experienced team member as a buddy.

You have to have good communication skills as we support many teams within the hospitals.

We are always looking at ways to improve. Whether you want to join as a trainee or you are an experienced Sterile Services Technician.
