Wellbeing Programme

The CDHB is committed to supporting staff wellbeing. We know that if staff are physically and emotionally healthy, they are more likely to contribute fully to the health system and the wider community.

We realise that commitment to personal wellbeing varies greatly amongst individuals and we therefore
aim to offer a broad range of wellbeing opportunities for staff, and in many cases for their family
members as well. In 2013 the CDHB won the NZ Workplace Wellbeing Award (Best New Programme category). In 2015 we reached the finals of the NZ Workplace Health & Safety Awards for our series of Wellbeing Workshops. The Staff Wellbeing Programme continues to grow in 2015.

The Staff Health and Wellbeing Strategy is developed through consultation with staff and the biennial Staff and Family Wellbeing Survey helps prioritise the exact mix of initiatives for the following 2 years.

In order to facilitate staff wellbeing we support a number of initiatives including:

  • Wellbeing Workshops open to all staff
  • An annual calendar of physical activity challenges and opportunities
  • Discounted membership to a number of Christchurch fitness facilitates
  • Authorised financial advisors running onsite clinics to help staff with financial and retirement planning
