Oral Health

Roles & opportunities

Calling all Dental Assistants and Dental Technicians.

We are a tertiary hospital-based service – so we see the more complex presentations and the more challenging clients (with physical, intellectual or mental health disabilities) – making our work varied and challenging.

We offer a range of services:

  • Oral and Maxillofacial surgery
  • Maxillofacial prosthetics
  • Oral Medicine
  • Orthodontics
  • Paediatric dentistry
  • Prosthodontics
  • Special Needs Dentistry
  • General dentistry

We get to make a difference to people’s lives.

What we're proud of

  • We are a great team of approximately 60 staff – we support and look out for each other.
  • We have a new purpose-built facility.
  • Going paperless with digital imaging is another exciting change which was recently implemented.

What you'll get out of it

Ongoing support and supervision if you’re training. Variety and complexity if you’re looking to grow your experience.

How to join the kapa (team)

We will support you to become a Dental Assistant. The 12 month online course has a very strong practical component completed on the job – previous hospital experience is an advantage but not a requirement.

Dental Technicians complete a Bachelor of Dental Technology at the University of Otago before coming to work with us.
