Te Whatu Ora Waitaha is committed to providing RMO’s with an excellent training environment in a wide variety of specialties and settings. 

You could be part of our team of professionals providing world class health care services across the Waitaha Canterbury region. We are fortunate enough to have the support of METU (Medical Education Training Unit) and RDST (Resident Doctor Support Team) who will assist you with orientation, training, Medical Council requirements, rostering, and day to day queries. They are co-located in Waipapa Christchurch Hospital and are more than happy to assist you with any questions you may have. 

With the completion of our new facilities such as Manawa and Waipapa, our RMO’s now have access to state of the art education and training facilities. 

We understand the importance of your RMO years and strive to provide you with the necessary support and advice to help further your career with us.

What we're proud of

  • As a RMO at Te Whatu Ora Waitaha you have the support of a dedicated SMO, whether or not you are enrolled in a formal training programme.

Annual Recruitment

Our Annual Recruitment process for RMOs opens in May each year and abides by the NZ medical year. 
To make life easy, we have the same application process for both New Zealand residents and overseas applicants.
